Ethics

We personally convinced ourselves that the animals live in the wild and are not harmed to obtain our fur.  Our goal is not only the creation of sustainable, unique products, but also to support local communities in Peru. No animals harmed, no farmers exploited. That’s our DNA.

For the welfare of the animals

Alpacas are simply too valuable to be killed for their fur. We exclusively use skins from animals which have died of natural causes – many animals do not survive the harsh climatic conditions in the highlands of the Andes. Alpacas have a life expectancy of 20-25 years, so shearing them over their lifetime is much more profitable than a single coat. Consequently, our products let you enjoy natural and sustainable luxury with a clear conscience that no animals have been harmed or maltreated.

For the benefit of the farmers

The prerequisite that the animals are not harmed or killed to obtain our fur comes first.

Our ambition goes beyond that: in times of political and economic conflicts, it is important to pause and give back. WEICH Couture Alpaca has not only set itself the goal of bringing the regional craftsmanship of the Peruvian artisans to our globalized world but at the same time to support local farmers and manufacturers to develop a self-determined life. Hence, we donate a part of our profits and thereby support charitable projects in our country of origin, Peru.
